Among the guests were Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja. Some guests reportedly arrived by helicopter, adding to the high-profile nature of the celebration.

Who is Isaya Yunge?

Yunge is a Tanzanian technology entrepreneur and youth advocate. He is associated with SomaApp, an education technology platform, and has previously worked with youth-focused organizations, including UNICEF.

He has also received international recognition, including the Queen’s Young Leaders Award in 2018.

The reported dowry

One of the biggest talking points from the ceremony is Yunge’s reported dowry.

Yunge is said to have claimed that the dowry was worth around KSh7 billion. The reported package included two helicopters, an nganya-style bus, and a gold ring valued at approximately KSh 56 million.

The figures have attracted widespread attention online, although the exact value and individual items have not been independently verified.

My answered prayer’

After the ceremony, Yunge shared an emotional message to Charlene, calling her “my good thing, my answered prayer and my greatest earthly gift.”

His words come nearly two and a half years after Charlene publicly asked for prayers to find a husband.

In 2024, during a prayer meeting with American evangelist Benny Hinn, Charlene requested prayers for a husband. Hinn prayed that she would find a partner who would support her calling.

Now, the President’s daughter has taken that next step, beginning a new chapter with Yunge in a ceremony that brought together love, culture and East African tradition.
