Editorial Policy

Our commitment to accuracy, fairness, and independent journalism.

Last Updated: September 20, 2026

Africa Pro 24 Media is committed to the highest standards of journalism. This Editorial Policy outlines the principles and practices that guide our editorial decisions and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and independence of our content.

1. Our Mission

Africa Pro 24 Media exists to inform, educate, and inspire our audience by providing accurate, fair, and independent journalism focused on entrepreneurship, business, technology, and economic development across Africa. We are dedicated to transforming Africa through the power of media and capital.

2. Core Principles

Accuracy

We strive to ensure that all information we publish is accurate, verified, and based on reliable sources. We fact-check our reporting and correct errors promptly and transparently (see our Corrections Policy).

Fairness & Impartiality

We present news and information fairly, without bias or prejudice. We seek to represent diverse perspectives and give subjects of critical stories an opportunity to respond.

Independence

Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial, political, or other external influences. Our advertising and sponsorship relationships do not influence our editorial content (see our Advertising Terms).

Transparency

We are transparent about our sources, our methods, and any potential conflicts of interest. We clearly label sponsored content, opinions, and analysis.

Accountability

We take responsibility for our content and are accountable to our audience. We welcome feedback and engage constructively with criticism.

3. Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently of our commercial operations. Advertisers, sponsors, and investors do not have any influence over what we publish, how we report, or which stories we cover. Any sponsored content is clearly labelled and created under the same editorial standards as our independent journalism.

4. Sourcing & Verification

We are committed to responsible sourcing and verification:

  • We use primary sources wherever possible;
  • We verify information with multiple independent sources before publication;
  • We clearly identify anonymous sources and explain why anonymity was granted;
  • We do not pay for interviews or information unless there is a compelling public interest and it is disclosed to readers;
  • We clearly distinguish between news reporting, analysis, opinion, and sponsored content.

5. Plagiarism & Attribution

We do not tolerate plagiarism. All content must be original or properly attributed to the original source. We give credit to other publications, journalists, and content creators whose work we reference or build upon.

6. Conflicts of Interest

Our journalists and contributors must disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationships that could influence their reporting. We do not allow our staff to:

  • Accept gifts, payments, or favours from sources or subjects of stories;
  • Hold financial interests in companies they cover;
  • Serve on boards or advisory roles for organisations they cover;
  • Use their position for personal gain.

7. Opinion & Analysis

Opinion pieces and analysis are clearly labelled and represent the views of the author, not necessarily those of Africa Pro 24 Media. Opinion content is held to the same standards of accuracy and fairness as our news reporting, but may express subjective viewpoints.

8. Sponsored Content & Native Advertising

All sponsored content and native advertising is clearly labelled as "Sponsored", "Paid Partnership", or similar. Sponsored content is subject to our editorial standards and is reviewed by our editorial team before publication. We do not allow sponsored content to masquerade as independent journalism.

9. Corrections & Retractions

We correct errors promptly and transparently. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with a clear explanation of what was corrected and when. Retractions are clearly labelled and explained. For full details, see our Corrections Policy.

10. User-Generated Content

We welcome contributions from our audience, including comments, articles, and story tips. All user-generated content is subject to our User-Generated Content Policy. We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or remove content that violates our policies.

11. Right of Reply

We give individuals and organisations an opportunity to respond to critical or negative stories about them before publication, wherever feasible and appropriate. We include their response fairly in our reporting.

12. Diverse Voices

We are committed to representing the diversity of Africa and its diaspora. We seek out and amplify voices from different countries, cultures, genders, and perspectives across the continent.

13. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

We believe in transparent, responsible, and human-centred use of AI in journalism.

Africa Pro 24 Media may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in certain editorial processes — such as transcription, translation, data analysis, and content discovery — but we do not use AI to generate publishable news articles, opinion pieces, or investigative reports without human oversight and verification.

13.1 How We Use AI

AI tools may be used in the following limited ways:

  • Research & Discovery: To scan large datasets, identify trends, or surface potential story leads.
  • Transcription & Translation: To transcribe interviews or translate documents, always followed by human review.
  • Data Analysis: To process and visualise large datasets, with human interpretation and verification.
  • Assistance & Productivity: To help with grammar checking, style suggestions, or summarising internal research — never for final published text without a human writer's full review and approval.

13.2 What We Do Not Use AI For

  • Generating full news articles, features, or opinion pieces without substantial human authorship and editorial oversight.
  • Creating fake quotes, sources, or events.
  • Producing deepfakes or synthetic media that could mislead our audience.
  • Replacing the judgment, ethics, and accountability of our human journalists and editors.

13.3 Transparency & Disclosure

Where AI tools have been used in the production of content, we will disclose this in a clear and accessible manner, typically at the bottom of the article. For example: "This article used AI-assisted transcription and data analysis. All reporting, writing, and fact-checking were performed by human journalists."

13.4 Human Responsibility

Every piece of content published by Africa Pro 24 Media remains the responsibility of a human editor or journalist. AI is a tool, not a replacement for professional editorial judgment, ethics, and accountability. Our editorial team reviews all AI-assisted outputs for accuracy, fairness, and compliance with this policy.

13.5 AI and User Data

We do not input sensitive or personally identifiable user data into third-party AI tools without appropriate safeguards and user consent. Our use of AI complies with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

13.6 Continuous Review

As AI technology evolves, we will regularly review and update this section to ensure our practices remain ethical, transparent, and aligned with the highest standards of journalism.

14. Editorial Complaints

If you have a complaint about our editorial content, please contact our editorial team:

We take all complaints seriously and aim to respond within 7 working days.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Editorial Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or standards. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated date.
